OCN Certificate Training Course

Passive Movement Programmes for Carers and professionals working with Profound and Multiple Disabilities.

This course runs yearly from September – June and is open to carers, parents, teachers, students and related professionals. The course is based on the principles of Laban and the art of movement and provides the student with ‘hooks’ to teach a good and safe movement session for the profoundly disabled. The teaching is delivered over six seminar sessions held on a Sunday 10am – 4pm at Touch Trust, Wales Millennium Centre.

These sessions are spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart and are compulsory. The student is then expected to undertake at least 15 hours of practical training in their own time and to complete a workbook as evidence of their learning. The course is tailored to suit the needs of the individual and practical placements can be arranged in schools, at the Touch Trust Centre and also in the students own place of work (if appropriate).

On completion of this training the student will gain an OCN certificate three units at level two and six units at level three. However, this does not qualify them to become a Touch Trust session leader or to use the name Touch Trust.

If the student would like to go on to become a qualified and certified Touch Trust session leader they will need to undertake the Touch Trust Certificate. (Most people do the OCN and Touch Trust Certificate at the same time).

When the student has gained the Touch Trust Certificate they are then elligible to become a Touch Trust Session Leader in a Provider Membership Centre. The newly qualified leader will then become a member of Touch Trust and the organisation they work for must become a Provider Member paying an annual fee and attending Continual Professional Development Sessions at Touch Trust.
