Touch Trust True Stories
Liam Byrne
Liam is a young man who began regularly attending Touch Trust sessions in the summer of 2006.
He and his carers enjoy the Touch Trust experience so much that he now comes to an individual and a group session every week!
The following true story of Liam’s many achievements and developments within his sessions is told from the perspective of his family, carers and Touch Trust session leaders.
Naomi Perkins
(Choreographer and Musician)
When Naomi first started coming to Touch Trust she was extremely introverted and appeared to be unaware of the world around her. In the early days she would often lie curled up with her head in her hands for the whole session. She did not tolerate touch at all and particularly disliked the percussion instruments and loud sounds.
Sarah Morgan
When Sarah first arrived at Touch Trust, she had tears streaming down her face; she appeared lost and struggling to communicate. As she sat with her head in her hands, the session leader moved closer to mirror her movements, gently wiping her eyes just like Sarah was doing. Sarah quickly noticed this, making eye contact and then laughing as she brushed her hair back and watched the session leader do the same!
